fhe: designer night.

Tonight’s FHE?
Designing headers for our blogs!

Yes, we’re nerds. We both graduated from the Communications department. I’m a PR major. Leah did the Print Journalism design track. This means that she is a pro at all this design stuff. It works out great for me because she can help me out with all sorts of stuff and she’s got all these great ideas.

Check out the new header above…

I’m so excited!

Oh and our little bunny Apple decided to try and help as well…

Fun FHE project!

Hhmm, we didn’t really do a spiritual thought tonight… Here’s one for all of us –
“We cannot afford to neglect this heaven-inspired program. It can bring spiritual growth to each member of the family, helping him or her to withstand the temptations which are everywhere. The lessons learned in the home are those that last the longest.” (Thomas S. Monson, Ensign May 2005)

? What’d you guys do for FHE tonight?

the newest aldous.

22 03 2011

Well, it finally happened. We added a new member to the family Monday night…
Apple! Our new pet bunny! haha We named him Apple because, right now I really want an iPad and I think I only have Apple on my mind! haha

It’s only day 2, but I’ve decided that a bunny is a ridiculously easy pet to take care of. He doesn’t eat much food and doesn’t need a lot of space. It’s awesome!

Welcome Apple!

This is the first pet I’ve really ever had. My family had six kids and I think my parents were busy enough with all of us!

“And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms.” (Ether 9:19)

I wonder if they kept some of these as pets? haha

? Have you ever had a pet before?

i’m a mac.

20 10 2010

I was born and raised on apples (computers at least)

I remember when we had this:

Now I have an iPhone and use an Apple desktop.
I’m hooked – I can’t get enough.
Every time they announce a new product I bemoan the fact that my financial status denies me the ability to be an early adopter.

“We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent…” (Genesis 47:18)
Bills. Bills. Bills.

In case you missed it – Apple made a “Back to the Mac” announcement today basically telling us that they’ve got some fun things for their computers coming out soon.

2 things really stood out to me:

Lion OS. I love that they name there operating systems after large members of the feline family.

A MAC app store. Basically you will be able to buy apps for your computer!
Wow.
Good call Steve Jobs. Your company is gonna be worth even more once that’s up and running.

Right now, my big wish is to get an iPad.
Oh man, I really want one.

It’s not really in the budget (and by not really, I mean definitely not). But my cousin Ty had a great suggestion: sell some of my crap!
Oooh, KSL, CraigsList, Ebay – pawn shop if I’m really desperate. (I’ve done the pawn shop route before)

It’s kinda nice having all of my junk still strewn about the apartment because it makes it easy for me to see what I can sell.
Ah yes, after scanning my desk (kitchen table) I’ve been quickly reminded that I still have in my possession an engagement ring from a prior (failed) relationship.
I tried selling it right after things went south… but, I didn’t really try to hard.

Now, it’s go time…

? Are you a Mac or PC?

testimony.

11 04 2010

Today was testimony meeting.

There were some wonderful testimonies given. Several of the youth gave emotional testimonies that were very honest and touching.

My mom bore a testimony that really struck me. She said something that I’ve been thinking about since… She mentioned something about how living here in VA was a great trial for me.

I wanted to get up and comment — but I would’ve been a little too emotional, so I opted out.

Here’s what I wish I had gotten up and said…

Ok, I’ve gotta correct something mom said. She mentioned that living here has been a trial for me. I believe living here has been one of the greatest blessings Heavenly Father has ever given me. I was in a spiritual rut when I came out here and being surrounded by each of you has been exactly what I needed. It had been years since I had a calling during my time in Utah. I was given the opportunity to serve out here and I’m in a better place spiritually because of it. Thank-you. I love the Gospel so much. I know that we are part of the church of Jesus Christ. I make mistakes constantly and I don’t always live His gospel the way it’s supposed to be done — but it’s true. He loves us because we are His children. He will open and close doors as we need them. We just have to trust Him…

I wish I had gotten up. Too late now though…

Since my move last November I have wanted to get back to Utah as soon as possible.

Now?

I love it here. I love the feeling I have here….

The apple is Winchester’s big thing…
