back from the dead.

First, can I say I love our new Sunday school teacher!
Sister Seibold, you are killer!

She reminds me of a younger version of Mom. This lady is a high octane gunslinger. She has a tremendous knowledge and is quite loud. (Reminds me of mom teaching seminary growing up – so loud! Sleeping wasn’t just discouraged, it was practically impossible)

Anyways, Sister Seibold asked a question that triggered a long thought process in my head while I was sitting in our stuffy chapel.

If you could bring back any political leader form the past to be our current President, who would you choose?
What?!?!
You mean replace our pop icon President? Now why would we want to do that? Hahahahahahahaha

The answers were numerous:

George Washington (actually he got multiple votes)
John F. Kennedy (I can only imagine the female pop stars that would frequent his office- not my top choice)
Ronal Reagan (actor –> CA governor –> President! Too bad Arnold is foreign or he might try for President. Well, foreign, and he basically ran CA into the ground)
King Benjamin (technically a political leader of his time with great spiritual insight – ok I can go with this one)
Captain Moroni (same deal)

I sat there trying to think about who I would bring back from the dead to lead our country and I decided on King Solomon.
Let me add a conditional statement – King Solomon before he let his crazy hormones take over and decided he needed hundreds of concubines.

“But king Solomon loved many strange women…” (1 Kings 11:1)

I want the King Solomon whose only desire was to be able to discern ….

“Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?” (1 Kings 3:9)

That’s who I want leading this country. We need someone in office with a perfect ability to discern good and bad. There are so many decisions to make as a leader. There are so many people you are trying to please (so that you can get reelected). Our country would greatly benefit from a man like Solomon.

Sidenote: Look, even if Solomon brought the immorality with him, it makes him no different than some of our other presidents. At least we would get the good judgement for a little while, right?

? If you could bring back one dead political leader from the past to lead our country who would it be, and why?

Abraham Lincoln…he had the honesty, integrity and wisdom of a young Solomon or David; and a strong faith in God which he was not afraid to acknowledge. He also had an understanding of the greatness of this country and that the Lord had a plan and a purpose. He had a humility which made him a good leader for all the people.
